Created in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, George Rodrigue’s To Stay Alive We Need Levee 5 stands as both a call to action and a symbol of resilience. In a bold campaign for levee protection, Rodrigue sent this image to every member of the U.S. Congress, raising national awareness about the urgent need for infrastructure reform in New Orleans.

Sales of the original prints, along with campaign materials such as T-shirts, lapel pins, and bumper stickers, supported the New Orleans Museum of Art.

Today, this signed silkscreen print continues that mission. A portion of proceeds from each sale will benefit Levees.org, an organization dedicated to educating the public about why the levees failed during Hurricane Katrina — and how better protections can save lives.
